The police in collaboration with the military and vigilante personnel in Kebbi state have rescued thirty Six victims of kidnapping unhurt.
The personnel were yesterday mobilized to the scene of the alleged kidnapping along Mairairai/Bena road in Danko/Wasagu LGA to rescue victims but the bandits engaged them in a gun duel.
In a statement, Kebbi police spokesman, Mr. Nafiu Abubakar said that the joint personnel overpowered the suspects who were forced to escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds.
The commissioner of police, Mr. Bello Sani commended their bravery, resilience and professionalism of the operatives and urged them to be more committed in not making Kebbi State a safe heaven for criminals
“In it’s sustained onslaught against banditry and other heinous crimes in the State, on the 8th December, 2024 at about 1800hrs, gunmen in their large numbers barricaded Mairairai/Bena road in Danko/Wasagu LGA and kidnapped thirty Six people who were coming back from their respective farms”
Mr. Sani said that the rescued victims have since been reunited with their families.
The police boss charged the Police and other security agencies operating in the area to intensify synergy among them with a view to decisively deal with the bandits and other unscrupulous elements.
