The Lagos State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of two kidnapped residents from the Ijede Creek area in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The victims were safely recovered unhurt following a coordinated multi-agency operation carried out late Sunday, May 25, 2025.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the victims were abducted from their homes located deep within the Ijede Creek settlement about two days earlier. The kidnapping was reported to the Ijede Police Division around 10:00 p.m., with initial reports indicating gunshots in the area.
In response, over fifteen police tactical teams—including detectives, conventional officers, and intervention squads—were swiftly deployed. They were joined by local vigilantes, hunters, and residents to track the kidnappers through the creek and surrounding forest.
Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Owohunwa Jimoh, the security teams launched a full-scale operation, sealing off all possible escape routes and conducting a coordinated sweep of the area. The sustained pressure forced the kidnappers to release the victims without harm.
The rescued individuals have since been reunited with their families, while security forces continue combing the forest and creek zones in a bid to apprehend the suspects and prevent future attacks.
The Police Command commended the bravery and dedication of all personnel involved, as well as the vital support from local vigilantes and community members.
