President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with Anambra State and the South-East region to deliver democratic dividends and drive national development.
Speaking during a one-day working visit to Awka for the inauguration of major projects, President Tinubu commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his visionary leadership and dedication to transforming the state. He emphasized that political differences would not hinder their collective efforts to advance prosperity across the nation.
“I am honoured to be here. I commend my friend, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, a brilliant and competent leader, for the remarkable work he is doing in Anambra State,” President Tinubu said, describing the governor as a trusted ally. He also thanked the people of Anambra for their support during the 2023 presidential election and pledged continued collaboration for the benefit of all Nigerians.
Governor Soludo, in his remarks, welcomed the President and expressed gratitude for his presence and support. He noted that the newly inaugurated projects symbolize the vision of a “new Anambra” — one focused on infrastructure, innovation, and inclusive development. He reaffirmed his administration’s goal of transforming the state into a livable and smart megacity.
“We’re no longer a departure lounge. Anambra is becoming a destination hub,” Soludo stated.
The governor also praised President Tinubu’s courage in steering the country through tough economic reforms, drawing on his track record as a transformative leader in Lagos.
“We recognize the difficult economic situation you inherited. But just as you tamed the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos, you are steadily laying the foundation for Nigeria’s economic renewal,” Soludo added, urging the President to stay the course.
During his visit, President Tinubu commissioned the long-awaited Anambra Government House, which had been under construction for 34 years, as well as the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
He lauded Chief Emeka Anyaoku, the former Commonwealth Secretary-General, for his contributions to international diplomacy and Nigerian unity, calling him “a great Nigerian whose legacy continues to inspire.”
The visit culminated in the conferment of a chieftaincy title, “Dike Si Mba Anambra”, on President Tinubu by the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council — a gesture recognizing his leadership and national contributions.
