With the July 12, 2025, local government elections approaching, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun has formally declared her intention to seek re-election as Chairman of Epe Local Government, citing a record of developmental strides, inclusive governance, and grassroots empowerment.
In a statement released by her media team, Animashaun highlighted key achievements during her tenure, including infrastructure upgrades, youth and women empowerment programs, improvements in healthcare delivery, and the rehabilitation of educational facilities across the local government.
“Epe deserves sustained growth, and that is why I am seeking continuity—not for the sake of power, but to consolidate the progress we have achieved together,” she said.
Since taking office, Animashaun’s administration has overseen the construction of durable roads in several communities, ensured the provision of clean water in underserved areas, and implemented social welfare programs targeting the elderly and vulnerable. Her efforts have been widely acknowledged by residents, many of whom refer to her affectionately as “Iya Epe”—a title that underscores her motherly presence and deep connection to the grassroots.
Princess Surah is also celebrated as “Beere Arolu,” a name that, supporters say, reflects her strength and dignity as a female leader in a traditionally male-dominated political space. As a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality (FHTI), she is noted for her blend of professionalism, community values, and people-focused leadership.
Political analysts in the region view her as a formidable candidate, pointing to her consistent engagement with stakeholders across various demographics—from traditional rulers and youth leaders to market women and religious institutions.
“She brings not just experience but also empathy and vision. Her re-election would mean continued development for Epe,” said a local political observer.
The campaign has adopted the slogan #SurahOwolomoshe2025, emphasizing unity, capacity, and continuity.
With the countdown to the polls underway, the Chairman’s re-election bid is expected to galvanize political interest in Epe, as constituents prepare to decide on the next phase of local leadership.
