The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), on Friday, October 10, 2025, paid a working visit to the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil–Kano, to assess firsthand the ongoing screening exercise for candidates seeking admission into the Academy.
DIG Argungu, who had earlier attended the Police Council Meeting in Abuja, said his visit was aimed at ensuring that the selection process remains transparent, efficient, and in line with global best practices.
Addressing members of the Selection Board during the visit, the PSC Chairman expressed satisfaction with the level of coordination and teamwork demonstrated by all stakeholders involved in the exercise. He commended the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick Atayero, for fostering an atmosphere of cooperation and professionalism throughout the screening process.
“I am happy to see that you are all working together as one family. This spirit of unity and collaboration is what we need to achieve a world-class Police Academy,” DIG Argungu said.
He emphasized the need for the Academy’s management to benchmark its operations with other police academies around the world, noting that continuous improvement and exposure to international standards would enhance training quality and institutional excellence.
“The Commission will continue to support efforts aimed at positioning the Academy among the best globally. A well-structured and functional Police Academy is the foundation for a competent and ethical Police Force,” he added.
The PSC Chairman also urged the Commandant to sustain the prevailing harmony within the institution, cautioning that internal cohesion was vital for success and institutional growth.
In his response, AIG Atayero welcomed the PSC Chairman and briefed him on the cordial relationship among all stakeholders since the commencement of the screening exercise. He assured that the Academy remained committed to fairness, transparency, and professionalism in the admission process.
The screening exercise continues on Saturday, October 11, 2025, as the selection process progresses toward its conclusion.
