The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dispatched a strong delegation to the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State, as the 2025 admission screening exercise officially begins today, Monday, October 6, 2025.
Leading the delegation are Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (Rtd), a former Justice of the Supreme Court representing the Judiciary on the Commission, and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd), fdc, who represents the Police and chairs the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters.
In a statement signed by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission said the move underscores its commitment to transparency and accountability in police recruitment processes across the country.
The statement also revealed that the ongoing POLAC screening would be the first practical test of the Commission’s newly introduced Whistle-Blowing Policy on Recruitment, aimed at curbing corruption and malpractice in police admission and enlistment procedures.
“The Commission will not hesitate to sanction any individual, no matter how highly placed, who violates the provisions of the new policy or attempts to manipulate the process,” the statement warned.
Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd), mni, called on all stakeholders participating in the screening to adhere strictly to laid-down rules and guidelines, noting that the Commission is determined to restore credibility and discipline to the police recruitment system.
Argungu emphasized that the PSC is committed to producing a new generation of officers the Police Force can be proud of, stressing that only the most qualified and deserving candidates would be admitted into the Academy.
He also encouraged state governments to show more interest in the admission process to protect their quotas and promote fairness and inclusivity. “The Commission will continue to stand for equity and transparency as it works to reform the recruitment system for better results,” Argungu assured.
