The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced plans to collaborate with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) to promote financial discipline, project efficiency, and cost management in the Nigerian Police Force.
Chairman of the Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Hashimu Argungu, made this known on Monday, June 2, 2025, during a courtesy visit by a delegation from NIQS led by its President, Mr. Kene Nzekwe.
DIG Argungu emphasized that the Commission is committed to good governance through prudent management of resources. He noted that integrating quantity surveying expertise into police operations would help improve infrastructure planning, implementation, and accountability.
He also pledged to explore the recruitment of qualified quantity surveyors into the Police Force, particularly to support the management of national security infrastructure and service delivery.
Speaking earlier, NIQS President, Mr. Nzekwe, said the Institute is eager to support the Commission’s efforts in enhancing project delivery and institutional capacity. He acknowledged PSC’s critical role in reinforcing the structure and operational efficiency of the Police Force.
Mr. Nzekwe advocated for the inclusion of quantity surveyors in the Commission’s administrative and technical teams to support the management of police housing, training facilities, logistics centres, and capital projects.
He also proposed collaboration in areas such as dispute resolution, project auditing, value-for-money assessments, and capacity building—initiatives he said would strengthen transparency, professionalism, and strategic outcomes.
The proposed partnership is expected to bolster the Commission’s ongoing reform agenda and ensure more efficient use of public resources.
