The Director of Lagos Operations of Radio Nigeria, Adenike Adegoke, has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to promoting positive narratives about Nigeria and showcasing the achievements of individuals contributing to national development.
Adegoke made the remark while receiving renowned cleric and philanthropist, Esther Ajayi, who paid her a courtesy visit at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Lagos headquarters.
The visit followed Ajayi’s recent appearance on Metro FM, one of the stations under the Lagos operations of Radio Nigeria, where she featured on a special programme designed to celebrate and promote women in commemoration of the 2026 International Women’s Day.
Speaking during the meeting with the station’s management team, Adegoke highlighted the nationwide reach of Radio Nigeria and its role in informing, educating and uniting Nigerians through responsible broadcasting.
She explained that the Lagos operations of the national broadcaster runs three stations — Metro FM, Radio One and Bond FM — each designed to serve diverse audiences across the state through English and indigenous language programming.
According to her, Radio Nigeria operates dozens of stations across the country and continues to provide a platform for projecting Nigeria’s positive stories and developmental efforts.
She also revealed that the Metro FM studio used for the programme is currently operating under temporary arrangements following a fire incident in November 2024 that destroyed key studio equipment.
Despite the setback, Adegoke said the organisation has remained resilient, sustaining its broadcast operations while efforts continue to restore the damaged facilities.
In her remarks, Ajayi commended the leadership of the Lagos operations of Radio Nigeria and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to share her experiences and inspire listeners through the International Women’s Day special broadcast.
She described the programme as engaging and impactful, noting that platforms that celebrate women and highlight positive stories are essential for societal growth.
Ajayi also encouraged the broadcaster to continue using its wide reach to inspire Nigerians and promote national development through balanced and responsible journalism.
The visit ended with the presentation of souvenirs to the cleric by the management of Radio Nigeria Lagos operations as both parties expressed willingness to strengthen collaboration in promoting social values and community development initiatives.
