The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, has successfully concluded its 2025 Strategic Lecture Series with a thought-provoking session delivered by a former Commandant of the Academy and retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Zannah M. Ibrahim.
The event, held on October 2, 2025, marked the grand finale of the Academy’s high-level lecture engagements designed to enrich the knowledge and leadership capacity of cadets ahead of their professional assignments.
DIG Zannah, who served as the 20th Commandant of the Academy, was received with great warmth by the current Commandant, AIG Patrick A. Atayero. His visit was described as both historic and inspiring for the next generation of police leaders.
In his lecture, DIG Zannah emphasized the importance of professionalism, integrity, transparency, and the adoption of information and communication technology (ICT) as the cornerstones of modern policing. He also spoke on how globalization has reshaped security challenges, urging the cadets to embrace continuous learning and technological innovation to effectively tackle evolving crimes.
The retired police chief, who played a major role in the recruitment of cadets of Regular Course 7 into the Nigeria Police Force during his tenure, was accompanied by his former Deputy Commandant, AIG Lawal Bagega (Rtd), a respected police administrator known for his commitment to institutional growth and discipline.
Following his lecture, DIG Zannah interacted with the cadets and commended their dedication. He urged them to remain focused, uphold the ethics of the Force, and project the image of the Nigeria Police Academy as a model of integrity and excellence.
The cadets, in turn, expressed deep appreciation for his leadership legacy and acknowledged the ongoing reforms being championed by the current Commandant, AIG Atayero, aimed at strengthening discipline, academic excellence, and practical exposure within the Academy.
In his closing remarks, AIG Atayero reaffirmed the Academy’s determination to produce officers who embody professionalism and patriotism. He also lauded the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for his visionary leadership and support in enhancing police training and development.
The Commandant further expressed appreciation to all senior officers, both serving and retired who contributed to the Strategic Lecture Series, describing their inputs as invaluable to the intellectual and moral development of the cadets.
According to him, the Nigeria Police Academy remains firmly committed to its core vision of producing well-trained officers who will protect lives and property while upholding the rule of law and national values.
