The Rivers State Police Command has strongly condemned a violent attack on the Sole Administrator of Ahoada-East Local Government Area, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor, describing the incident as criminal and unacceptable.
According to an official statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the attack occurred on Thursday, June 20, 2025, at approximately 1:40 p.m., when a group of about 30 individuals—allegedly led by Mr. Hector Ekakita, the Chief Security Officer (CSO), and the Chief of Staff (COS) to the Sole Administrator—stormed the council secretariat.
The assailants reportedly assaulted Iheanachor, inflicted injuries, and forcefully took his mobile phones. They allegedly coerced him into signing a resignation letter and made away with both official and personal documents from his office. The administrator is currently receiving medical care and is reported to be in stable condition.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju visited the scene alongside senior officials of other security agencies in the state and has since ordered the CSO, COS, and others implicated in the attack to report immediately to the Police Headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, for interrogation.
“The Command will not tolerate such brazen acts of violence and intimidation,” CP Adepoju said, warning that anyone who fails to comply with the directive will face serious consequences.
He reiterated the police command’s commitment to upholding public safety and law and order. The Commissioner also urged residents of the state to remain calm, cooperate with authorities, and avoid actions that could threaten peace and stability.
