More than eight hundred entrepreneurs including traders, transporters and artisans in Ifelodun local council Development Area of Lagos have been empowered to make them financially independent and fend for their family members.
The beneficiaries in the mega empowerment thanked the council chairman, Mayor Olufemi Okeowo for not just providing monthly food distribution but equipping them to be self reliant.
The beneficiaries of the empowerment facilities are hair dressers, welders, transport operators, mechanics, popcorn makers, barbers, farmers fashion designers and other artisans as well as those relying on handwork to make a living.
They went home with items such as Hair Tonging, Hair Straightner, Hair Washing Basin, Hand Dryer, Sewing Machine, Stonning Machine, Inner Weaving Machine, Cover Button Machine, Make Up Kits and Gel Nail Dryer, Clipper and Sterilizers.
Other items included Pop Corn Machines, welding equipment such as Welding Machine, Grinding Machine and Drilling Machine, Fish feeds, Poultry feeds and Cattle Feed while tricycles and mini buses were also distributed to the entrepreneurs.
Some of the beneficiaries were full of thanks to the council leadership and expressed the hope of a better living standards.
Some of them said that they just got their first set of working tools after gaining freedom from apprenticeship.
The council chairman, mayor Okeowo explained how the gesture would impact on the lives and businesses of the people saying that they need not to wait for anyone to give them money because the mega empowerment is to make the beneficiaries employers of labour.
Okeowo noted that the current situation in the Country desire compassionate leaders who will think more of the people than his personal gains.
Mayor Okeowo urged the beneficiaries to value and utilise the facilities which he advised them never to sell.
Chairman of All Progressive Congress in Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Oyefolu Ojelabi said the Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo who is giving back to the society is fulfilling a convenant he willingly entered into with the people during electioneering campaigns.
“I could recollect vividly promises the Chairman made to the people before he was voted in such such as providing portable water, good Road networks, quality healthcare delivery system, quality education,human Capital development,youth empowerment Programs and others.What I am seeing here today is a demonstration of dedicated leader who is willing to give back to the society.”

A member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), a former Minister of Defence Senator Musiliu Obanikoro appealed to the people of Ifelodun LCDA to allow Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo to complete his second term ,which he said is one of traditions of the party in Lagos State, so that dividends of democracy could reach more peope of Ifelodun LCDA.
The pioneer Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA Hon. Taiwo Oyewole Adenekan commended Hon. Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo for constantly pulling smiles on the faces of the people of Ifelodun LCDA either through Food Palliative,Solar -Powered street Lights,road construction,access to Health care, construction of Administrative building,Water Systems or Mega- empowerment Program.
Yeye Ireti Oluwa said she is impressed with the reports so far being received from the people about the Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA.
The former executive Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA Hon Fatai Shuaib Ajidagba called on the residents to cooperate fully with the Chairman in order for him to be able to fulfill the mandateof the party.
