Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has unveiled a transformative partnership with the Rome Business School in Italy aimed at advancing education and entrepreneurship in the state.
During a meeting with the institution’s Founder and Dean, Professor Antonio Ragusa, at the Lagos House in Marina, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the collaboration as a strategic step toward enhancing human capital and increasing global competitiveness among Lagosians.
As part of the agreement, 150 students across the state will receive scholarships valued at ₦1 million each to pursue business and leadership training programs, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and capacity building.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also highlighted significant strides in tertiary education, noting the recent establishment of Lagos’ third state-owned university and the development of a fourth — a dedicated medical university. He cited the success of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, which annually selects 30 fellows from over 15,000 applicants for a one-year intensive leadership programme.
In his remarks, Professor Ragusa lauded Nigeria’s potential as a global economic powerhouse and emphasized education as the key to unlocking that future. He also announced that the Rome Business School will confer an honorary doctorate degree in Administration on Governor Sanwo-Olu, in recognition of his leadership and contributions to educational advancement.
The partnership is expected to create new global pathways for young Nigerians and position Lagos as a hub for leadership and innovation in Africa.
