The Church of the Lord (TCL) Worldwide has announced the commencement of year-long activities to celebrate its Centenary Anniversary, marking 100 years since its establishment in 1925 at Ogere-Remo, Ogun State, through the divine revelation received by its founder, Prophet-General Josiah Olunowo Ositelu.
At a centenary world press conference , the Primate and Supreme Head, His Holiness, The Most Rev. Dr. Rufus Okikiola Olubiyi Ositelu, described the milestone as “a century of divine faithfulness, prophetic impact, and global evangelism.” He reaffirmed that the Church, which has expanded into over 30 countries across Africa, Europe, and the Americas, remains committed to its founding doctrine of holiness, prophetic ministry, and humanitarian service.
Highlighting the unique identity of the Church as “The Aladura with a Difference,” the Primate referenced its Six Foundational Tenets including Biblical, Pentecostal, Evangelical, Ecumenical, Prophetic, and Social, noting that these values will continue to anchor the mission of the Church into its second century. He also emphasized the enduring significance of Mount Tabieorar, consecrated in 1937, describing it as a divine covenant ground and one of Africa’s foremost spiritual pilgrimage centres.
Most Rev. Ositelu, who also serves as President of the World Council of Churches (WCC) for Africa, reiterated his administration’s focus on digital evangelism, youth empowerment, theological advancement, peace-building, and interreligious collaboration. He called on Nigerians, especially youths, to embrace unity, integrity, and moral excellence, stressing that leadership and nation-building must be rooted in accountability and God-fearing principles.
Looking ahead, the Church outlined its next-century priorities, including expanded evangelism, enhanced healthcare and education interventions, stronger capacity development for clergy and laity, and increased global humanitarian partnerships.
The Primate concluded with a declaration that the next century would usher in new manifestations of God’s glory, stating, “A hundred years have passed, but the flame of prophecy burns brighter. The glory of the latter house shall surpass the former.”
