President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to combating insecurity and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians. He made this known during a meeting with a delegation of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, held at the State House, Abuja.
The President, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Policy Communications, Mr. Daniel Bwala, declared that his administration would not tolerate any form of evil against citizens, and emphasized that security agencies have been given renewed directives to decisively tackle all criminal activities across the country.
“We are engaging with state governors to address the root causes of insecurity,” the President stated. “While the challenge exists in some areas, rest assured that we are fully committed to restoring peace so that every citizen can pursue their dreams in a secure environment.”
President Tinubu also underscored the need for a national consensus against crime, urging all Nigerians to unite in condemning wrongdoing, regardless of political, tribal, or religious affiliations. “Crime is crime. Evil is evil. We must never shield or politicise it,” he asserted.
On the economic front, the President noted that recent reforms initiated by his administration were beginning to yield measurable improvements, citing increased revenue allocations to states and a reduction in industrial actions as examples.
He called on religious leaders to continue supporting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said was driving sustainable growth and national cohesion.
Speaking on behalf of the bishops, General Secretary of the Charismatic Bishops Conference, Archbishop Chivir Chianson, acknowledged the efforts of the Tinubu-led government in improving the welfare of Nigerians. He expressed particular concern for church members in rural communities affected by insecurity but praised recent security measures, including the recruitment of forest guards to protect vulnerable areas.
“We commend the President’s fairness in appointments,” Archbishop Chianson added. “The choice of Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation was widely applauded by the Christian community as a mark of inclusion.”
The Archbishop affirmed the group’s support for the administration and disclosed plans for the Conference’s 2025 Synod, which will focus on national peace, good governance, and empowerment programs for members.
Other members of the delegation included Archbishop James Maljit, Deputy National President (North); Archbishop Joseph Jatau Yari, National Vice-President (North West); Archbishop Alexander Nyoonkyeh, Overseer of Benue Province; and Bishop David Gyang, Overseer of Plateau Province.
The Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria comprises over 900 members nationwide.
