Tinubu’s Endorsements Based on Performance, Not Fear – Kalu

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has dismissed claims that endorsements for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election stem from fear of opposition coalitions, attributing the support to Tinubu’s leadership and reforms.

Speaking with journalists at the National Assembly on Tuesday, the Abia-North lawmaker said the APC remains confident and focused on governance. “We have nothing to fear. The opposition is doing its job, and we are doing ours—delivering results,” he said.

Kalu defended Tinubu’s visit to the Vatican, noting it was at Pope Francis’s personal invitation. “It would’ve been disrespectful to decline. Catholics worldwide, including myself, appreciate the gesture,” he added.

He revealed that the Southeast APC was among the first to endorse Tinubu, led by governors and key legislators. “We initiated the national endorsement weeks ago,” he stated.

On the economy, Kalu praised Tinubu’s tough reforms, including subsidy removal and exchange rate unification. “He ended the culture of easy money. Now it’s about earning the right way,” he said.

Kalu predicted these reforms would yield results soon and insisted Tinubu’s appeal spans all regions. “He’ll be re-elected across North and South—it’s in the national interest.”

Addressing his 2027 plans, Kalu pledged continued service, with a new focus on agriculture. “I don’t keep a bank account. Everything goes into roads, schools, farms, and my foundation,” he said.

He urged leaders across party lines to speak the truth and prioritize the people over politics.
