Two Arrested in Lagos Over Separate Fatal Altercations

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with separate incidents of murder reported in different parts of Lagos within a span of five days. The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that investigations are underway in both cases, which involved fatal outcomes during heated arguments.

The first incident occurred late on May 1, 2025, at the Ijegun area of Lagos. According to police reports, a domestic dispute between a young couple turned violent when a woman identified as Precious Anegbeode allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Damilola, in the stomach. The attack reportedly happened around 11:00 p.m. during an argument between the two.

Following the stabbing, the victim was rushed to Alimosho General Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival. A homicide team from the police visited the scene shortly after the report was filed by the victim’s brother the next morning. The suspect was arrested, and the weapon used—a kitchen knife—was recovered and documented as evidence.

In the second case, which occurred on May 6, 2025, a man identified as Philip Ogbuehi, 46, allegedly punched another man during a disagreement over passage rights at a lounge in the Ogidan Sangotedo area. The altercation reportedly escalated quickly, with Ogbuehi striking the victim in the chest.

The victim collapsed shortly after the blow and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced dead by the attending medical personnel. Detectives from the command were notified and immediately proceeded to the scene, where the suspect was apprehended. The body has since been deposited at the Mainland Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for autopsy.

Authorities have confirmed that both suspects are in custody and that investigations are ongoing. The first case has already been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), while the second is being handled by the homicide division.

The Lagos State Police Command urged members of the public to seek non-violent ways of resolving conflicts, warning that the law will take its full course against anyone found guilty of taking another person’s life.
