The Plateau State Government has taken delivery of 20,000 bags of 10kg rice donated by the Dangote Group as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at supporting vulnerable and less privileged residents.
The distribution, which took place at the Old Government House in Rayfield, Jos, is set to cover communities across all 17 local government areas of the state.
Receiving the donation, Governor Caleb Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the Dangote Group for the generous gesture. He commended the company’s continued commitment to social impact and urged other well-meaning individuals and organizations to emulate the example.
“This donation comes at a time when many families are struggling. We are grateful to the Dangote Group for standing with the people of Plateau State,” the Governor said. He assured that the rice would be distributed equitably to those who need it most.
Governor Mutfwang also highlighted the state’s broader efforts to alleviate hardship through various social intervention programs. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing highly subsidized fertilizers to farmers as part of measures to boost food security.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Sunday Abdu, stated that the donation would go a long way in easing the burden on vulnerable households. He expressed confidence in the transparent and fair distribution of the food aid.
Presenting the rice on behalf of the Dangote Group, Area Manager Bashir Adamu explained that the donation is part of the Group’s corporate social responsibility to support states and communities in need. He called for the rice to be distributed judiciously to maximize its impact.
Distribution is expected to begin immediately, with the rice allocated across all 17 LGAs in Plateau State.
