Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving fire safety services to better protect lives and property across the state.
Speaking at the commissioning of three newly acquired fire trucks at the Osun State Fire Service headquarters in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke highlighted the urgent need for upgrades, noting that the state had not procured new fire trucks in over 14 years.
Since assuming office, the governor said his administration has acquired seven modern fire trucks and one water tanker, along with protective gear and enhanced training programs for fire personnel.
“We have equipped our brave officers with essential firefighting tools and training to ensure they can respond to emergencies with professionalism and efficiency,” he said.
Adeleke also announced plans to provide at least one fire truck for each of Osun’s nine federal constituencies, as well as an additional unit for the Fire Service headquarters. He directed the Ministry of Home Affairs and fire service leadership to implement a strict maintenance and accountability framework for the new assets.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Abdulrosheed Aderibigbe, commended the governor for strengthening the state’s firefighting capacity and urged personnel to make the most of the new resources.
The event was attended by notable figures including former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Lasun Yussuf, Dr. Olu Alabi, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, and other dignitaries.
