In a renewed effort to bolster security in Nigeria’s capital, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force have pledged to deepen their collaboration to combat crime and insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This commitment was made during a strategic meeting in Abuja, following a courtesy visit by the newly appointed FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ajao Adewale, to the FCT NSCDC Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu.
Dr. Odumosu hailed the visit as a critical step toward a more secure environment, emphasizing the existing synergy between the two agencies—particularly their joint efforts in curbing the notorious “one chance” syndicate. He reaffirmed the Corps’ readiness to sustain and expand the partnership through intelligence sharing, joint operations, and coordinated crime-fighting strategies.
“Our collaboration has already made significant impacts. We are committed to deepening this relationship for the safety and peace of our citizens,” Odumosu stated.
On his part, Commissioner Adewale noted that choosing the NSCDC as his first official stop reflects the value he places on inter-agency cooperation. He praised the existing level of collaboration and emphasized the necessity of a united front in addressing security challenges.
“Security is a shared responsibility,” he said. “Multi-agency cooperation is not optional—it is essential.”
Adewale encouraged FCT residents to remain vigilant and to support security efforts by providing timely, actionable information. He stressed that unity among citizens and agencies is key to sustaining the relative peace currently enjoyed in the territory.
The meeting underscores a growing trend among security agencies in Nigeria to prioritize joint action and strategic partnerships to address rising security threats more effectively.
