Enugu Police Arrest Firearms Fabricator, Cultists, and Drug Suspects in Coordinated Operations

The Enugu State Police Command has apprehended four male suspects in a series of targeted operations, recovering firearms, illicit drugs, and other criminal exhibits. These arrests are part of an intensified crackdown on criminal activities across the state under the leadership of Commissioner of Police (CP) Mamman Bitrus Giwa.

In a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command detailed the arrests which took place between May 8 and 9, 2025.

On May 9, operatives of the Crack Tactical Squad arrested Ikechukwu Ugwele, popularly known as “Angle 90,” aged 35. A Beretta pistol and a quantity of marijuana—believed to be the high-grade variant known as “Loud”—were recovered. Ugwele reportedly confessed to multiple criminal activities and led officers to where the firearm was concealed.

A day earlier, officers from the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad apprehended 25-year-old Emmanuel Eze, alias “Camara,” recovering a locally made pistol. His arrest followed revelations from Uchenna Nwudi, 29, alias “Asai,” and Eze Chiadikobi, 32. Nwudi admitted to fabricating firearms, while Chiadikobi is implicated in transformer vandalism. All three suspects confessed to being members of the Vikings Confraternity.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion.

The arrests come on the heels of a recent briefing by CP Giwa, during which he announced the arrest of 291 suspects since taking office in March. These include 42 for armed robbery, 33 for kidnapping, 12 for murder, and 44 linked to cultism. Additionally, the Command has rescued 36 kidnapped victims and recovered 44 firearms, 173 rounds of ammunition, and 20 stolen vehicles.

Reaffirming the Command’s commitment, CP Giwa stated that the fight against criminal elements will continue with renewed vigor. He called on residents to remain vigilant and collaborate with the police to ensure a safer Enugu State.
