The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun has upgraded the Papa Epe Health Care Center into a fully operational 24-hour medical facility, marking a significant step in grassroots healthcare delivery.
According to a statement issued by Yusuf O. Temitayo, Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, the initiative is aimed at bridging the healthcare access gap within the community and complementing the services of the Federal Medical Center, Epe.
The statement revealed that additional doctors and nurses have been recruited to reinforce the health workforce at the center. These new personnel will work alongside existing staff deployed by the Lagos State Government to provide continuous, quality care.
“Our administration is deeply committed to the health and wellbeing of Epe residents,” Princess Animashaun was quoted as saying in the statement. “This 24-hour upgrade is a promise fulfilled—one that delivers timely, reliable, and life-saving care to our people around the clock.”
The Supervisor for Health, Hon. Abolaji Alebiosu, also expressed optimism about the initiative, noting that it would significantly reduce emergency fatalities, improve maternal and child health outcomes, and rebuild trust in the primary healthcare system.
Dr. Leke Awolesi, the Medical Officer of Health (MOH), described the project as a transformational milestone. “With a strengthened workforce and 24-hour operations, the Papa Epe Health Care Center can now effectively manage emergencies, critical conditions, and reduce referral delays,” the statement quoted him as saying.
The upgraded facility now offers emergency services, outpatient consultations, maternal and child care, immunizations, and other essential health programs—ushering in a new era of accessible, community-based healthcare in Epe.
