The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, joined children across the nation in celebrating the 2025 Children’s Day with a vibrant and inspiring event held at Elemoro Junior High School.
In his address, Hon. Olowa expressed profound joy at the enthusiasm and energy displayed by the children, describing them as “shining stars” and beacons of the future. “Children’s Day is not just an annual tradition; it is a powerful reminder of the responsibility we bear—as a government, as parents, as educators, and as a community—to nurture and support every child,” he stated.
The Chairman highlighted key achievements of his administration in the education sector, reaffirming the local government’s dedication to ensuring access to quality education, child welfare, and inclusive opportunities for every young person in Ibeju-Lekki. “This celebration is a time to renew our collective commitment to protect, empower, and uplift every child,” he added.
The well-attended celebration featured a variety of engaging activities, including a ceremonial march-past and a cultural dance competition. Winners in the various categories shared a total cash prize of two million naira, with first-place recipients receiving ₦250,000, second-place winners ₦150,000, and third-place winners ₦100,000.
The event drew an impressive array of dignitaries, including Councillors, Supervisors, the Local Government Management Team, traditional rulers, women leaders, members of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), the Nigerian Army band, and other notable guests.
