As part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and secure Eid-al-Adha celebration, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, has directed an intensive security deployment across Lagos and Ogun States.
AIG Fayoade instructed the Commissioners of Police in both states, along with heads of various tactical and intelligence units—including the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Special Protection Unit (SPU), Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), and others—to intensify patrols and security coverage. Strategic locations such as worship centres, shopping malls, markets, motor parks, residential areas, tourist sites, highways, and critical infrastructure are to receive increased attention.
The directive also emphasized the need for officers to ensure the free flow of traffic and maintain law and order during the holiday period.
While extending warm Eid greetings to the Muslim community, AIG Fayoade assured the public of their safety and encouraged citizens to celebrate without fear of harassment or disruption. He further called for continued cooperation between the police and members of the public to maintain peace and security.
