The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive, professional, and community-driven policing aimed at enhancing public safety and combating crime across the state.
He made this known during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, Dr. Vita Ndu, and a delegation of retired senior security officers under the Eche Obodo Security Group from the Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
Dr. Ndu commended the Police Command’s prompt response to a recent criminal incident involving kidnapping and ritual killing in the Umuojor area of Isiagu Umumba Autonomous Community, Ezeagu LGA. He praised CP Giwa for what he described as “dedicated and swift policing interventions” that reassured residents and restored calm in the affected community.
In a show of solidarity, members of the Eche Obodo Security Group—comprising retired Major Generals, former Commissioners of Police, ex-Directors of the Department of State Services (DSS), and former Immigration Controllers—lauded CP Giwa’s leadership and early achievements since assuming office. The group’s leader, retired Major General Godwin Ugwuoke, emphasized that the Commissioner’s approach has already yielded “visible improvements in policing and public confidence.”
They urged the Commissioner to maintain the momentum in intelligence-driven crime fighting and pledged their continued collaboration with the Command to ensure long-term security and peace in the State.
Responding, CP Giwa expressed gratitude for the recognition and support. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to results-oriented, citizen-centered policing, while calling on residents and stakeholders to continue partnering with the Police to strengthen the state’s security framework.
The meeting underscored the growing synergy between the Police and local authorities in Enugu State, with renewed emphasis on proactive security measures, community engagement, and institutional support.
