The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major breakthroughs in its nationwide efforts to combat crime, with the neutralization of seven suspected kidnappers, the arrest of five armed robbery suspects, and the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and five stolen vehicles in Delta and Kaduna States.
In a press release, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that the operations were driven by credible intelligence and executed through coordinated field efforts.
On June 4, 2025, operatives of the Delta State Police Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes and anti-cult volunteers, engaged suspected kidnappers in a gunfight along the Abraka Railway axis. Four suspects were neutralized, and one AK-47 rifle with thirteen rounds of live ammunition was recovered.
In a separate operation, the Command’s CP-Special Assignment Team intercepted a suspicious shuttle bus near Ewhereni Junction on Ughelli–Patani Road. The occupants opened fire in an attempt to flee, prompting a shootout that resulted in the death of three suspects. Another AK-47 rifle loaded with eighteen rounds of ammunition was recovered. Investigations revealed the gang’s involvement in a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating in the area.
In Kaduna State, police operatives arrested five suspected armed robbers linked to multiple thefts. One suspect, Mohammed Kabir of Samaru Gusau, Zamfara State, was apprehended after a high-speed chase in Zaria, leading to the recovery of a Toyota Hilux stolen from the Federal Ministry of Finance, Abuja, on May 28, 2025. Additional recoveries included:
A Toyota Camry, found abandoned near the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway;
A Honda CR-V, recovered after suspect Emmanuel Oliseh was arrested for stealing it in Abuja;
Another Toyota Camry (1998 model), intercepted with three suspects—Ibrahim Bala, Abdulsalam Abdullahi, and Abdulraman Muktar—who confessed to stealing it from Nasarawa State.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun commended the swift and coordinated actions of the officers involved. He emphasized the value of sustained collaboration between law enforcement and the public, urging citizens to report suspicious activity to security agencies.
“These operations reflect the growing effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency cooperation in keeping our communities safe,” the IGP stated.
