In a continued push to strengthen security across rural communities in Enugu State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, on Friday, June 14, 2025, led an extensive patrol operation across three local government areas—Isi-Uzo, Nkanu East, and Enugu East.
The patrol, part of CP Giwa’s ongoing confidence-building and crime prevention strategy, covered several rural communities including Ikem, Isu, and Eha-Amufu in Isi-Uzo LGA. During the stop at Eha-Amufu, the Commissioner was received by the Chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, Barr. Obiora Obeagu, who accompanied him to the recently established Joint Security Intervention Taskforce (JSIT) camp at Ogbete-Mgbuji.
The JSIT comprises operatives from the Nigeria Police Force, the Military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local security outfits. It was set up in response to rising security concerns in the Eha-Amufu axis, particularly issues linked to herder-farmer conflicts.
Addressing the police personnel stationed at the JSIT camp, CP Giwa commended their service and urged them to remain professional, resilient, and collaborative in the discharge of their duties. He emphasized the importance of maintaining operational synergy with other security agencies to ensure lasting peace in the area.
The Commissioner also visited Oruku and Umuode in Nkanu East LGA, and Akpaoga-Nike, Obinagu, and Emene in Enugu East LGA, where he assessed the local security landscape and interacted with officers on the ground.
“These strategic patrols, which I initiated upon assuming office, are crucial in deterring crime and restoring public confidence—especially in rural and vulnerable communities,” CP Giwa said. He reiterated the Enugu State Police Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order, while calling on residents to support security efforts through cooperation and timely information sharing.
CP Giwa was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Gregory Itobore; Udenu Area Commander, ACP Bernard Amaga Ukwa; and heads of tactical and operational units of the command.
