Lagos Police Launch Investigation into Alleged Misconduct by Okokomaiko Tactical Squad Commander

The Lagos State Police Command has launched a formal investigation into allegations of complicity and procedural misconduct against the Tactical Commander of the Okokomaiko unit, in connection with the handling of serious criminal cases involving six suspects.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has set up a high-level committee to probe the claims. The committee, headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), also includes the Officer in Charge of Legal Services. The team has been directed to submit its findings within one week.

In a move aimed at ensuring transparency and avoiding interference, the officer in question has been immediately redeployed from the tactical squad. Police authorities say this measure is to guarantee a thorough and unhindered investigation.

The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its zero tolerance for corruption, compromise, or any form of misconduct during criminal investigations or prosecutions. The Command assured the public that if the officer is found culpable, strict disciplinary action will be taken to serve as a deterrent to others within the force.

CP Jimoh urged members of the public to remain calm and continue to place their trust in the police. He emphasized that any proven wrongdoing by officers would be appropriately addressed in line with established disciplinary procedures.

The Command affirmed that the outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course.
