Reaffirming the importance of women in traditional leadership and community development, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, has hailed the role of women in preserving cultural values and fostering civic unity.
She made this known in an official statement on Friday, while congratulating Alhaja Adenike Tobun, the Yeye Meso of Epe Land, on the occasion of her birthday.
“The influence of women in our local governance structure and traditional institutions cannot be overstated,” Animashaun said. “As we celebrate Alhaja Tobun, we also honor the quiet strength and cultural leadership that women like her bring to our society.”
Alhaja Tobun, wife of Hon. Abiodun Tobun—Balogun of Epe and member of the Lagos State House of Assembly—was praised for her enduring commitment to the Epe community, describing her as a figure of humility, resilience, and grace.
“Her dignified presence and unwavering support continue to inspire many, especially the younger generation of women who are stepping into roles of responsibility within our communities,” the statement read.
Princess Animashaun, who has championed grassroots development and civic education since assuming office, linked the celebrant’s contributions to broader efforts aimed at strengthening local institutions and cultural identity.
Alhaja Tobun, a respected matriarch in Epe, holds the chieftaincy title of Yeye Meso, a traditional honor conferred in recognition of her societal impact. Her birthday drew widespread goodwill messages from community stakeholders and public officials alike.
