In a string of successful operations aimed at bolstering internal security, the Nigeria Police Force has recorded major breakthroughs across multiple states, including the rescue of a kidnapped child, the arrest of a gang behind a staged abduction, and the dismantling of a sophisticated financial fraud network. These efforts reflect the Force’s continued emphasis on intelligence-led policing, swift response to credible information, and strategic coordination.
According to a press release issued by the Force Headquarters on June 21, 2025, officers in Katsina State acted on a report filed on February 20, 2025, by one Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters regarding the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl and her 4-year-old sister. After four months, the older girl resurfaced and confessed to staging her own kidnapping with the help of three accomplices aged 25, 19, and 16. All four have been arrested and the younger child was rescued unharmed.
In Nasarawa State, a separate operation was launched following intelligence on the movement of a suspected arms trafficker along the Giza–Kadarko Road in Keana Local Government Area. Upon being stopped, the suspect fled into a nearby bush, abandoning his unregistered Bajaj motorcycle. A search of the motorcycle led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and forty-five rounds of live ammunition. Authorities are actively pursuing the suspect.
Another major breakthrough was recorded in Jigawa State on June 13, 2025, when a joint team comprising operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies conducted a coordinated raid on Kankare and Zurkuda villages in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area. Seven suspected fraudsters were arrested. Recovered items included 46,100 counterfeit United States Dollars, four point-of-sale (POS) machines, thirteen Android smartphones, twenty-nine keypad phones, six power banks, two vehicle plate numbers, and multiple documents believed to be linked to cyber fraud and financial crimes. The suspects are currently in custody and under investigation.
These developments underscore the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering resolve under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, to protect lives and property, dismantle criminal networks, and secure communities nationwide. The Force urges citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and cooperative in ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and national security.
