The Imo State House of Assembly has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office and passed a vote of confidence in the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, citing significant infrastructural development and economic reforms at both state and federal levels.
The resolution followed Governor Uzodimma’s “State of the State” address delivered at the hallowed chambers of the Assembly in Owerri. Lawmakers, led by Speaker Chike Olemgbe, commended the performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administrations, urging citizens to continue supporting their leadership.
In his address, Governor Uzodimma highlighted key milestones achieved since he assumed office in 2020, including the construction of over 120 roads, rehabilitation of 305 primary schools across all wards, and development of healthcare facilities. He also noted the ongoing construction of a flyover at the Maria Assumpta Cathedral Roundabout, which connects major corridors such as the Port Harcourt and Onitsha roads.
> “We are witnessing an Imo that is rapidly transforming into a hub of infrastructure and opportunity—an Imo open for businesses,” the governor stated.
Governor Uzodimma further revealed that the state is currently funding five tertiary institutions, and he expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for approving a ₦39 billion grant to facilitate the establishment of a new federal university in the state.
To address housing challenges, he said the government is constructing modern housing estates, while substantial investments are being channeled into electricity, digital economy, and agriculture to stimulate growth and reposition Imo as a center of opportunity in the South-East region.
The Assembly’s endorsement of President Tinubu and affirmation of Governor Uzodimma’s leadership signal growing alignment within the APC’s state and federal structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
