The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) commenced its ward-to-ward campaign on a high note with a strong grassroots rally across Wards E1 and E2 on Thursday, July 3, 2025, drawing a massive turnout of supporters despite continuous rainfall.
The campaign flag-off, widely described as a show of unity, resilience, and grassroots strength, reaffirmed support for the re-election bid of the incumbent Chairman, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, and his running mate, Alhaji Wasiu Oluwole Dehinsilu.
Addressing a large crowd of party faithful and community residents, Chairman Anomo highlighted his administration’s achievements in key sectors including education, healthcare, road infrastructure, youth empowerment, rural electrification, and community security. He assured constituents of expanded development efforts and deeper inclusivity if given a renewed mandate.
“We are not just asking for votes. We are renewing our social contract with our people. The trust you have placed in us will be met with greater commitment and results,” Anomo said.
The rally featured the formal presentation of Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councillorship candidates to the people. Hon. Disu Opeyemi Ajenise was introduced to voters in Ward E1, while Hon. Hassan Mustapha Owolabi was unveiled to the people of Ward E2.
In Ward E2, the presence of former Executive Chairman, Hon. Samson Adeniyi Onanuga, popularly known as Bobo Mi, further energized the crowd. Onanuga issued a bold declaration, vowing that his ward would deliver the highest number of votes in the upcoming election, and personally challenged other polling units to match the turnout of his own unit.
“Our unit will make history as the most productive in the LCDA,” he declared, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.
Campaign LOC Chairman, Otunba Nurudeen Yusuf, commended party supporters for braving the heavy downpour, describing the turnout as a testament to the people’s faith in the APC’s leadership and vision.
“The weather could not stop this momentum. The people of Ikosi-Ejinrin have spoken clearly—they are ready to consolidate on good governance with trusted leadership,” Yusuf said.
The flag-off rally was marked by chants, dances, and public endorsements, setting the tone for what party leaders describe as a people-driven campaign ahead of the local government elections.
The APC campaign is expected to continue in Wards G1 and F1 in the coming days, as the party intensifies voter engagement across the LCDA.
