Lagos LG Polls: Hon. Olowa Meets Mayfair Gardens Residents, Pledges Inclusive Leadership

As part of continued grassroots engagement ahead of the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, met with residents and stakeholders of Mayfair Gardens Estate, promising to deepen inclusive governance if re-elected.

The meeting was also attended by key political stakeholders including the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo; Director-General of the Campaign Organization, Hon. Babatunde Quadri Idogun; former Lagos State House of Assembly Member, Hon. Adewale Raheem Kazeem; and the APC Local Government Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Aliasau Eletu.

Addressing residents during the interactive session, Hon. Olowa expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised the estate community for its civic engagement. He said bridging the communication gap between the government and the people had been one of his administration’s top priorities since assuming office in 2021.

“The transformation we are witnessing across Ibeju-Lekki today is the result of intentional leadership and community-driven planning,” Olowa stated. “This council is rapidly developing, and I want to assure you that future investments in this area are secure and viable.”

He urged residents to consider the upcoming election not merely as a routine political exercise, but as an opportunity to reinforce the voice of the community in securing more dividends of democracy. According to him, a high voter turnout would place Ibeju-Lekki in a stronger position when negotiating for greater development and state-level attention.

Hon. Olowa also gave a brief account of his administration’s performance in the last three years and previewed his next-term development blueprint under the S.H.I.E.E.L.D agenda—an acronym representing plans to consolidate achievements in security, health, infrastructure, education, empowerment, leadership, and digital governance.

Speaking on behalf of the campaign team, Hon. Babatunde Idogun described Olowa as a focused and visionary leader. “He is an intelligent man with unwavering commitment to service,” Idogun said. “Mayfair Gardens and the entire Ibeju-Lekki can count on him to continue delivering on his mandate.”

Chairman of Mayfair Gardens Estate, Mr. John, lauded the Council Chairman for what he described as visible progress under his leadership. “We are well aware of the work you have done, and we will continue to give you our support. Ibeju-Lekki is better today because of your leadership,” he remarked.

Other attendees included the APC Local Government Woman Leader, Alhaja Mobi Raji, and the councillorship candidate for Ward E (Iwerekun I), Zainab Ayobola Eletu.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has scheduled the council elections for Saturday, July 12, with voting set to begin at 8:00 a.m. across polling units. Ibeju-Lekki, a fast-developing corridor of Lagos, is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the outcomes.

Hon. Olowa’s campaign continues to focus on inclusive leadership, community development, and sustained growth for Ibeju-Lekki’s expanding population.
