As the July 12, 2025, Local Government elections approach, political activity has intensified across Ibeju-Lekki, with residents of Wards A, C1, C2, and D reaffirming their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledging what they described as “mega votes” for the party’s candidates. The elections, which many see as a pivotal moment for the rapidly developing coastal region, are being framed not just as a democratic exercise, but as a mandate for continuity, visionary leadership, and grassroots development.
Leading the APC’s campaign is the incumbent Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, who is seeking a second term in office alongside his running mate, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji. Both candidates have been at the forefront of ward-level engagements in the run-up to the polls, delivering a message focused on performance, development, and inclusive governance.
In Ward A, a gathering at the residence of Kabiyesi Agbabiaka in Ibeju-Agbe Town drew a large crowd of party faithful and stakeholders. The event was attended by political leaders and dignitaries, including Alhaji Bode Kashif Oyedele, Alhaji Tunde Isiaq, Hon. Isiaka Logun Akinwunmi, Hon. Tansiru Shoniyi, Campaign DG Hon. Babatunde Quadri Idogun, Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation and Revenue Hon. Abdul-Kabir Opeyemi Ogungbo, Hon. Raheem Kazeem, Hon. Idowu Eletu, Hon. Monsuru Oludaisi Kazeem, Hon. Muslim Folami, Party Chairman Hon. Aliasau Eletu, and other party chieftains. Their central message emphasized the importance of a high voter turnout to secure Ibeju-Lekki’s continued development and strengthen its strategic relevance within Lagos State.
In Ward C1, the campaign trail continued to Orofun, where party leaders met residents opposite the Atlantic Bay Hotel. They highlighted APC’s track record in governance, citing achievements in infrastructure, community participation, and service delivery. Speakers encouraged residents to mobilize for the polls, calling on them to support a leadership that has demonstrated competence and results.
The campaign team proceeded to Ward C2, where they were received at Community Primary School, Iberekodo. There, the emphasis shifted to continuity, with speakers urging the electorate to vote for sustained progress and reject disruptions that could stall the region’s growth. Community leaders and APC officials reminded residents that their votes represented the future of Ibeju-Lekki and a mandate to continue building on ongoing initiatives.
In Ward D, the campaign extended to Solu-Jegi and later to the Ogungbo compound in Idado. The campaign was joined by Hon. Bayo Balogun and Special Adviser on Energy and Mineral Resources, Hon. Abiola Okanlawon Olowu. Residents in the area were assured that development would continue to reach the most remote corners of the local government under the current leadership.
Throughout the rallies, the APC campaign emphasized that the stakes go beyond politics and personalities. The leadership of Hon. Olowa and his deputy was presented as a tested and trusted path to progress, and the call for support was framed as a collective investment in community-driven governance.
The campaign train moves to Wards B, E, and F next, as Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa and Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji continue to receive strong endorsements from across the local government in their bid for re-election.
