The Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) has congratulated Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin on his appointment as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
In a statement signed by its President, Mr. Olalekan Olabulo, the association described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Hundeyin’s professionalism, dedication, and remarkable contributions to effective policing and communication in Nigeria.
CRAN noted that Hundeyin’s strong academic and professional background has prepared him for this strategic role. He holds a BA (Hons) in English Language from Lagos State University and an MSc in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan. He also trained in Civil-Military Coordination at the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State.
The association further highlighted his extensive experience within the Force. Hundeyin previously served as Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Lagos; as Administration Officer at the Force Public Relations Department, Abuja; and most recently as spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, where he earned recognition for his professionalism and openness.
His international exposure was also acknowledged, particularly his role as part of Nigeria’s contingent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan (UNAMID) in 2020. According to CRAN, this experience underscores his capacity to represent the Nigeria Police Force on the global stage.
“CSP Hundeyin has consistently demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to strengthening the bond between the police and the public,” the statement read. “During his tenure as Lagos State Police PRO, he worked closely with crime reporters, fostering mutual respect and building a relationship anchored on transparency and accountability. His new appointment as Force PRO is both a testament to his competence and an opportunity to deepen public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.”
While pledging its continuous support and collaboration, CRAN urged Hundeyin to build on his past achievements and leverage his communication expertise to further reposition the image of the Nigeria Police Force.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to working with him in promoting accurate reportage of police activities, enhancing mutual trust, and supporting the Force’s efforts to strengthen internal security.
