The Lagos State Police Command has recorded a major success in its ongoing campaign against violent crime with the arrest of a notorious and vicious armed robbery syndicate responsible for multiple car-snatching operations across several states.
Acting on credible intelligence, detectives from the Command’s Tactical Squads carried out coordinated operations between 1:00 a.m. on October 15 and 3:00 a.m. on October 17, 2025, leading to the arrest of four suspected members of the gang at their hideout in Igando, Lagos State.
The suspects, Taiwo Alabi (42), Ogedengbe Lowis (46), Ighodalo Enato Francis (37), and Osaro Eghe Abiodun (34) reportedly specialized in posing as passengers before robbing vehicle owners of their cars at gunpoint. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to a series of violent robberies within Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and Edo States.
Items recovered from them include one pump-action shotgun, one Beretta pistol, 48 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 46 live cartridges, a cutlass, criminal charms, and four stolen vehicles a Toyota Sienna, two Lexus ES350s, and a Toyota Corolla.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang’s operations were highly coordinated and spanned several months, with the criminals often targeting unsuspecting private car owners during late-night hours. The successful crackdown followed weeks of surveillance and intelligence sharing between the Lagos State Command and its counterparts in neighboring states.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift response, reaffirming the Command’s zero-tolerance stance against violent crimes. He assured residents that efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang and bring them to justice.
“The Lagos State Police Command remains fully committed to ensuring peace, security, and the safety of all residents through sustained intelligence-led operations,” CP Jimoh stated.
The suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
