The Police Service Commission (PSC) has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Ngbaronye, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Town Division, Lagos State, who reportedly passed away on Friday following complications from surgery at a private hospital in Lagos.
In a condolence message issued by the Commission’s Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd, the PSC described the late officer as a dedicated and professional member of the Nigeria Police Force whose service record reflected integrity, diligence, and commitment to duty.
DIG Argungu said tributes pouring in from colleagues and subordinates were a testament to her selfless service and leadership qualities, which earned her respect across ranks.
“CSP Ngbaronye was a committed and hardworking officer who devoted her life to the service of the Nigeria Police Force. Her passing is a great loss not only to the Lagos State Command but to the entire Force,” Argungu said.
The PSC Chairman extended heartfelt condolences to the Inspector-General of Police, Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, as well as the deceased officer’s aged mother, family, and friends, praying for God to grant them strength and comfort during this difficult period.
He also prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul, noting that the Commission remains committed to improving the welfare and working conditions of officers in recognition of the risks and sacrifices associated with policing duties.
The late CSP Ngbaronye was widely respected within the Lagos State Command for her professionalism, calm leadership style, and commitment to community policing initiatives in Festac Town and its environs.
