The Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, has applauded Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Shide Sunday, PhD, for earning international recognition for his scholarly work on the future of artificial intelligence in policing.
In a statement issued by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Musa Isah Umar, AIG Atayero conveyed the commendation on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, noting that the achievement reinforces the Nigeria Police Force’s growing reputation for intellectual and professional excellence.
ASP Sunday received a Certificate of Recognition from the Board of the International Journal of Research and Scientific Innovation (IJRSI) for his academic paper titled “The Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Policing: A Study of Future Directions of the Nigeria Police Force.”
The Commandant described the honour as evidence of the intellectual depth within the Force and a reflection of the IGP’s commitment to promoting innovation, research, and technology-driven policing.
AIG Atayero further revealed plans to seek the IGP’s approval for qualified and competent police officers with advanced academic credentials to be considered for appointment as visiting lecturers or academic staff at the Police Academy. He noted that a committee would be set up immediately to design a framework for identifying such officers and integrating them into the Academy’s academic structure.
He expressed confidence that ASP Sunday’s achievement will motivate other officers to pursue academic excellence and contribute more meaningfully to the professional development of the Nigeria Police Force.
