The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos East Chapter, has intensified efforts to deepen youth development and grassroots engagement through collaboration with traditional institutions.
This formed the focus of a courtesy visit by the council to the Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom, AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa, during a leadership retreat hosted in the area.
The delegation, led by the Lagos East Vice Coordinator, Asoro Abubakree Olatunji, alongside the Eredo Chapter Coordinator, Adekunle Oluwaseyi, commended the monarch for his contributions to youth empowerment and community development.
They noted that the traditional ruler has consistently promoted youth inclusion through various initiatives aimed at engaging and uplifting young people within the kingdom.
The council also praised efforts to foster unity among youths, describing the monarch’s leadership style as inclusive and supportive of youth participation in governance and community affairs.
Members of the delegation highlighted the appointment of Sunday Otunnowo as Personal Assistant to the monarch while serving as Public Relations Officer of the NYCN Eredo Chapter, noting that it reflects growing collaboration between the palace and youth organisations.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the council to present its vision, mission and objectives, while formally introducing members of the delegation.
In his response, Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa appreciated the visit and commended the council for its commitment to youth development and leadership.
He urged members to remain focused and dedicated, assuring them of continued support for initiatives that promote youth advancement.
The monarch also offered prayers for the success of their retreat and supported the programme with a donation.
