The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria has commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri over ongoing investments in healthcare and infrastructure, describing the developments as significant for service delivery and economic growth in Adamawa State.
The commendation was made by the PSN President, Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, during activities surrounding the 2026 PSN Colloquium in Yola, where stakeholders assessed progress in the state’s health sector.
Ibrahim said improvements in medical infrastructure and the pharmaceutical value chain have strengthened healthcare delivery, noting that sustained investments are critical to building public confidence in Nigeria’s health system.
“I sincerely commend the Governor for his foresight in ensuring economic growth through infrastructural excellence,” he said, adding that ongoing projects have contributed to the transformation of Yola into a growing urban centre.
He also noted that reforms in the health sector align with the broader goals of the pharmaceutical profession, particularly in ensuring access to quality medicines and improving patient outcomes.
A former PSN President, Olumide Akintayo, said prioritising healthcare remains central to governance, stressing that a strong pharmaceutical system is essential for an effective health sector.
Similarly, keynote speaker and immediate past PSN President, Cyril Odianose Usifoh, said the state’s ability to host a major professional gathering reflects improvements in infrastructure and institutional capacity.
On his part, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Pharmaceutical Matters, Nwaka Ohuama, said ongoing reforms are aimed at positioning Adamawa as a hub for healthcare services and medical tourism in the sub-region.
“We are not just treating patients; we are building a global healthcare brand,” he said.
Governor Fintiri, in his remarks, assured stakeholders of continued collaboration with the PSN and other partners to strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure successful hosting of the colloquium.
The PSN leadership reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies that enhance access to safe and quality medicines while promoting sustainable development in the health sector.
