The Nigeria Police Force has commenced activities marking the 2026 Police Day celebration at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi, with a sanitation exercise and medical outreach programme.
The initiative, which took place within and around the Alagbon axis in Lagos, saw officers and personnel cleaning roads, drainages, markets, and other public spaces as part of efforts to promote environmental hygiene and public health.
Police authorities said the exercise reflects a broader commitment to community engagement and improved public service delivery, beyond conventional law enforcement duties.
Leading the exercise, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of FCID Annex Alagbon, Simeon U. Akpanudom, said the activities are designed to strengthen collaboration between the police and the public.
He urged residents to maintain clean environments, stressing that public safety and sanitation require collective responsibility.
Akpanudom also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to people-oriented policing, noting that building trust and mutual respect remains critical to effective security management.
The medical outreach component of the programme provided basic health services to members of the public, further highlighting the police’s role in community development initiatives.
The FCID Annex assured residents of its continued dedication to protecting lives and property while sustaining partnerships that promote peace and security.
