The Lagos State Police Command has rescued four children suspected to have been kidnapped and reunited them with their parents after a patrol operation in the Coker-Orile area of Lagos.
The rescue followed a routine patrol by police operatives around the Alafia Bus Terminal on May 8, 2026, where officers reportedly discovered the children with an unidentified woman attempting to board a luxury bus leaving the state.
Police authorities said the woman fled the scene immediately she noticed the presence of security operatives, abandoning the children behind.
According to preliminary findings, the children were allegedly taken from the Ijesha-Tedo area of Lagos and were being moved to an undisclosed destination before the intervention of the police patrol team.
The children were immediately placed under protective care while efforts were initiated to identify and contact their families.
The command later confirmed that the children had been safely reunited with their parents, while investigations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect and possible accomplices.
Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai commended the swift response and professionalism of the officers involved in the operation.
He reiterated the commitment of the command to tackling crimes involving children and protecting vulnerable residents across the state.
The police commissioner also advised parents and guardians to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities involving children to security agencies for immediate intervention.
